I had such a wonderful day at the Killarney Races last Thursday and although the weather gods didn’t seem to be in our favour, the sheer amount of style and fashion certainly made up for it.
The glamour of the day continued well into the evening as scores of racegoers, in all their fashion and finery, gathered at the Brehon Hotel for their renowned Annual Après Party.
I was honoured to be judge for the best dressed this year but I certainly had a tough job ahead of me as everywhere I looked there was one more beautifully coordinated outfit after another, as well as an abundance of delectable Millinery creations. However in the end, there were some clear winners that stood out for me on the night.
First up was Gary Moynihan, who walked away with the prize for best dressed man and a meal for two in the Danu Restaurant. Although it was Ladies Day, it was great to see the guys make an effort too and dapper chap Gary, dressed in a grey three piece suit, really raised the game in the style stakes for the gents.
Moving on to the ladies and it was Anny Dury-Kaherman from Ballyheigue who won the prize for best hat and a day for two at the Angsana Spa at the Brehon. The lady in red wowed the crowd with her show-stopping work of art by local designer and artist Rebekah Wall and I also adored her lace red jumpsuit which she purchased in Yasmine Boutique in Tralee.
Lastly, it was local girl, Annette Roche Clifford that absolutely stole the show for me. Annette was rewarded for her pretty in pink ensemble with a €500 gift voucher for Brown Tomas and said she would certainly put it to good use by buying a present for her mum in law and local milliner, Shirly Clifford, who had made her gorgeous headpiece for the night.
Annette purchased her dress at online boutique Vestry whilst talented Shirley also made her a belt to match.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at the Brehon Hotel for having me as a guest for this fabulous evening and a huge congratulations again to all the winners.
I can’t believe Ladies Day Killarney is over until next year ! In the meantime, I’m left wondering what to do with this serious racing fever I seem to have caught…… can we do this every month??!
